Valley supports immigration reform

FRESNO, Calif.

Dozens rallied outside Congressman Devin Nunes' office. Organizers of the annual May Day march in Clovis announced details of next month's event. They say they're hoping more people join to support their cause.

The march is being held on May 1, 2013.

People at Friday's event say as lawmakers consider immigration legislation the support of voters, especially here in the Valley is extremely important.

Luis Ojeda of Fresno immigration youth in action said, "We're calling for a moratorium on deportation until we get a bill on the floor of house and senate and he signs something."

A bill expected to be introduced next week would make legalization and ultimately citizenship available only to those who arrived in the U.S. before December 31, 2011.

A senate aide with knowledge of the proposals says anyone who came after that date would be subject to deportation.
