Teen saves boy from being swept over waterfall

A bay area teen is being called a hero for saving the life of little boy in Yosemite National Park.

Alec Smith sprang into action when he saw the 9-year-old being swept down the Merced River toward Vernal Fall.

The San Jose teen jumped over the protective railing and grabbed the boy before the 317 foot drop.

It's the same spot where three young North Valley hikers died after being swept over the fall in 2011.
