Revamping an animal shelter in Visalia

FRESNO, Calif.

Tulare County Animal Control is revamping its doggie park where prospective "pet parents" meet the animals they're considering for adoption.

Friday, volunteers spent the day raking in 10 tons of compost, planting flowers, sod and trees for the park. The compost being used was made from the waste of local Savemart Supermarkets.

All the materials were donated by local businesses. Animal control officials say their dog park was in bad shape and with this help they'll be able to increase the number of adoptions.
