The strikeforce heading back home now includes firefighters from Visalia as well as Porterville, Tulare and Kern County.
Visalia Fire Battalion Chief Danny Wristen says the crews were right on the front lines of the fire in Camarillo.
Chief Wristen says he and his crews spent the past three days working in the steep and rugged terrain.
He says his strikeforce even helped save several homes there.
This group is mostly made up of city or urban fire fighters but Chief Wristen says nearly all firefighters in California are trained to work wildfires, in rugged terrain, as part of the California mutual aid program.
"When you work for the California fire services, no matter which department you work for, you're always a fire fighter. That can be from structure fires to wild land fires, HAZMAT, medical aid, technical rescue," Wristen said.
These out of town assignments usually last about 5-6 days but this crew is returning after three days because weather conditions helped fire fighters improve containment efforts.
