Investigators said the first reported assault allegedly happened after a music concert on May 31st. It was reported that the suspect carried the victim to an inconspicuous area and forcibly touched the victim against her consent.
After the suspect was arrested, the Sheriff's office said they spoke with a second female student who also reported being sexually assaulted by the same suspect. Investigators say the suspect held the victim against her will in the high school gym. She was reportedly able to fight off the suspect.
"This is a very serious and troubling assault investigation. Obviously I don't want to pre-convict this young man, but if these allegations against him are proven true, he absolutely needs to face the full consequences," said Douglas Binnewies, Mariposa County Sheriff.
The Mariposa County Sheriff's Office said they are working with the Mariposa County District Attorney's Office and the Mariposa County School District to identify all the facts surrounding these incidents.
