Construction of a new boardwalk alongside two fallen sequoias is expected to begin as early as Monday.
Two giant sequoias fell onto the trail in September of 2011. The trees were each about 280-feet tall, and 17-feet in diameter. They blocked access for those with disabilities.
The new boardwalk will be constructed from wood and run 100 foot along the edge of the fallen sequoias. It will be six feet wide and have handrails.
Work is expected to last sixty days.
