President Obama tours Mandela's cell at Robben Island

FRESNO, Calif.

The First Family toured the old prison at Robben Island, where Mandela was held captive for his fight against apartheid. The former South African president spent more than half of his 27 year sentence in a prison cell at Robben Island.

The 94-year-old leader remains in critical, but stable condition because of a lung infection. President Obama has called Mandela his personal hero...

"Mandela's spirit could never be imprisoned, because his legacy is here for all of us to see," said President Obama.

The first family's 83-year-old tour guide for the day is also a former prisoner who was sentenced for anti-apartheid activities. Monday President Obama will held to Tanzania.
