Lt. Kevin Mayer said the woman was attempting suicide and threatening to jump from the condominium when she was spotted by the trio who worked on superhero movie "Kick-Ass 2," according to told U-T San Diego
"They were the perfect guys to be there at that time," Mayer told the newspaper. "It was very dangerous. I've seen attempted suicides when someone grabs them and is pulled over."
Gregg Sargeant says he and two co-workers saw a woman who appeared to be threatening to jump from a building so they grabbed some harnessing rigging and ran into the building.
Sargeant owns Los Angeles-based Stunts 911 - Action Sequence Technologies.
"We raced upstairs, crashed into the room and I sneaked up behind her," Sargeant told the newspaper.
Sargeant said the woman was hanging by her arms when he grabbed her and his co-workers came in and "roped her up."
"She was crying, upset, pretty out of it," he said.
Mayer said the woman was distraught over the breakup of a relationship and had been drinking, as evidenced by a shattered bottle of vodka found under her balcony.
The woman was taken to a hospital for a mental evaluation.
Sargeant's crew was working this week to rig stunts for private parties. "Kick-Ass 2" is set for release in theaters in mid-August.
