American chile growers say they are facing tough competition from China.

Growers say the popularity of hot peppers has been growing year to year. However, they are still struggling to compete with China where labor is cheaper. American growers also say that some foreign varieties market themselves as American-grown.

Growers say they are competing with lower-priced peppers by offering organic varieties for which customers are willing to pay more.
