Fresno Unified hosts Matt Mueller Memorial Pancake Breakfast

FRESNO, Calif.

Fresno Unified hosted its 10th annual Matt Mueller Memorial Pancake Breakfast on Sunday at Hope Lutheran Church. Proceeds from the event benefit Project Access -- which helps support homeless children in the district.

Organizers say giving back to kids is exactly what Matt would have wanted. "This is so what Matt Mueller's all about just seeing his legacy of compassion and how he cared for his kids no matter where you came from or what your lifestyle was at home he always cared about what you're doing and how you can become more successful in school," said Jeff Belcher with Project Access and former student of Matt Mueller.

Matt was the first activities director at Buchanan High School. He died in 2000 from a heart attack.

Organizers say the pancake breakfast brings in about $5,500 every year, and has helped about 23-thousand students in need over the past ten years.
