"The advantage we had from the game getting postponed was we were able to take Saturday all day and watch Boise tape," said Head Coach Tim DeRuyter. "We had practice yesterday , had a great practice. So we were able to gain a little bit."
The last time the Broncos came into Bulldog Stadium, Boise State put up 57 points in a win two seasons ago. But as last year's 20-10 loss showed, the gap has closed considerably, and Fresno State says it is ready to pounce.
"Since last year when we lost to Boise, it's kind of stuck in our guys' craw," said DeRuyter. "But one of the things I keep reminding our guys about each week are is year's team is 0-0 against Boise. Every year is a different year."
The Bulldogs have a lot of familiarity with Boise State on both sides of the ball, but insist they'll need a perfect effort in all three phases to come out with a win at home.
"If we get both sides of the ball and special teams focused on our jobs, preparing one hundred percent of the way, then we don't have to worry about those things," said Quarterback Derek Carr. "Then the game will take care of itself."
But they also say confidence is at an all-time high, and are calling on the entire Red Wave to come out and support.
"It's just something that you're used to," said Carr. "It's something that you love playing in front of the home crowd because once you make a play they go nuts."
"These are the opportunities that hopefully we take advantage of," said DeRuyter. "Because they don't come along very often."
Kickoff is set for Friday night at 6:00 p.m. on Jim Sweeney Field.
