Nuts may have fewer calories than previously thought

A new study by the U.S. Department of Agriculture says the caloric value of pistachios have likely been over-estimated by about five percent.

Researchers also found the estimated calories for almonds may be lower than usually thought. The calculations were based on new estimates of how many calories are actually absorbed by people who ate the nuts.
