Central California's inaugural Honor Flight for World War II veterans took off Tuesday morning and 69 local veterans are now in Washington D.C. preparing to continue their journey.

Tuesday morning they gathered at Fresno Yosemite International for a rally and a parade through the terminal. As their charter jet took off for the East Coast, Fresno Firefighters gave them a water cannon salute.

Action News Anchor Warren Armstrong is traveling with our local veterans. In the video above, he reported from near Washington D.C. on their first hours in our nations' capitol.
