Pear growers are seeing record-breaking harvest

Officials with the Pear Bureau say they just finished a tally of the 2013 crop. They are expecting it to be 14-percent larger than the June estimate.

Officials say this year's crop is also larger than the previous record set in 2011. Growers say a long and dry summer caused their fruit to get bigger, leading to a larger harvest.

Meanwhile, industry officials are hoping China becomes a big importer ofAmerican pears, since it's now allowing the fruit into its market.
