Authorities said Willie Mitchell was upset that his co-worker was named employee of the month. They said he got into an argument with the woman about the award and threatened her.
Then investigators said surveillance video captured Mitchell firing a single shot into the woman's car before he left the Walmart property.
"Perhaps he wanted to be employee of the month. But clearly these actions that we saw in response to this, I think we see why he wasn't chosen as employee of the month," said Veda Coleman, Broward County Sheriff's Department.
The woman was working inside the store when the shot was fired. Mitchell now faces charges and a store official says he is no longer employed at the store.
