Hundreds of holiday wreaths honor veterans at Clovis Cemetery

FRESNO, Calif.

A group of volunteers placed the wreaths at 900 gravesites Saturday morning. It is part of the nationwide Wreaths across America event, which includes 24 locations on foreign soil and at sea.

Seven specially designated wreaths for the army, marines, navy, air force, coast guard, merchant marine and prisoners of war and those missing in action were placed during a ceremony this morning. I was held simultaneously at more than 400 locations across the country.

"The mission of Wreaths across America is to remember, honor, and teach, and we're here to let the veterans sacrifice and service," Location Coordinator Linda Branam said.

This is the first year the Clovis Cemetery has participated in the event, but organizers say they hope to make it an annual tradition.
