Fire burns Three Rivers landmark

FRESNO, Calif.

"The quick response of the two engines from the Three Rivers held the fire to the rear portion of the building, which was about one third of the building totally damaged by fire, the other two thirds was heavily damaged by smoke," Green said.

Fire investigators haven't determined how the fire started. Community members are saddened by the loss. Ann Lang's Deli and gift shop is just down the road. She said the White Horse was a Three Rivers landmark.

"The White Horse was for years and years the in place in Three Rivers. Any time there was a party it was at the White Horse, The Lyons club used to have their New Year's Eve parties at the White Horse." Lang said.

The White Horse Inn closed down as a restaurant about 15 years ago, and the owners turned it into a catering hall where weddings and special events were held.

A family member told Action News the owners are badly shaken by the loss, and unsure as to what's next for the building that was a key part of the foothill community for decades.

"The fact that it's no longer with us is really going to leave a big hole in the community," Green said.
