Central Valley teen earns Girl Scouts' highest honor

FRESNO, Calif.

Megan Sing donated 25 handmade dog beds to Miss Winkles Clovis Pet Adoption Saturday as part of her Girl Scout Gold Award Project.

The 17-year-old from Troop 305 made the beds herself out of canvas and PVC pipes. She also created and donated 50 educational brochures for prospective pet owners. Megan said she's always loved animals and wanted to help those that have been abandoned.

"I feel like the animals at the shelter are just waiting for their forever home, and I thought while they're waiting I would make them a little more comfortable until they do find that home," Megan said.

The Gold Award Megan earned for her project is the Girl Scouts' highest honor.
