Fresno CO. Jail inmate dies to H1N1 flu virus, lockdown expanded

FRESNO, Calif.

A 61- year old Fresno County jail inmate who was hospitalized last week with the H1N1 flu virus has died.

Sheriff Deputies said at least three other inmates have confirmed cases of the flu. Deputies have also expanded a quarantine of the county jail. Both the north and south annex of the jail are now on lockdown to prevent spread of the virus.

Eight males and one female are being tested for H1N1 at the Fresno County jail. Deputies say they are being treated accordingly.

Deputies say inmates are still being assessed individually for symptoms of the H1N1 flu virus. Inmates are still being offered immunizations.

Health experts say the flu has now claimed the lives of three people in Kings County two people in Fresno County and two adults in Merced County.
