The Merced County Sheriff's Office said just before 10 p.m. Thursday several people called 911 to say they heard gunfire. Deputies responded to find two men shot to death in the garage of a home on Onyx near Alyssa in Winton.
A third man ran during the shooting. He was found inside the home with several gunshot wounds.
So far, it appears the shooter or shooters just walked up to the garage where the victims were hanging out with the door open. Deputies say no one is stepping forward as a witness to the shooting.
"Our detectives that work this area hopefully will have people contact them and give them information," said Dep. Ed Katen, Merced County Sheriff's Department.
Investigators say it is too early to tell if the murders are gang or drug related.
The victims have not been identified.
