Fresno State is rolling out an aggressive water conservation plan aimed at reducing water usage by 20 percent -- the equivalent of nearly 60 million gallons in the next year.

The university has enacted a number of water-saving measures including limiting irrigation to 1 inch per week during growing season, and using low-flow sprinkler heads.

New landscapes will be planted with native or low-water plants, and future building projects will be dual-plumbed to use recycled water where possible.
