TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fire crews are on the scene of a large blaze at a Tulare County cricket farm.

The fire started about 12:30 a.m. at Bassetts Cricket Ranch near Road 156 and Avenue 280 -- just west of Farmersville.

Farmers say when they arrived to the ranch they found heavy smoke and flames coming from multiple buildings.

"There's four separate buildings, three buildings were involved upon arrival with a fourth building beginning to catch fire," said Joanne Bear of Tulare County Fire Department.

Visalia and Farmersville Fire both worked to put out the flames.

It's even sent a firefighter to the hospital. He suffered overexertion and was transported to Kaweah Delta where he is being treated.

No one else was injured.

Action News reporter Gilbert Magallon updates us on the cricket ranch fire burning in Tulare County.

The blaze damaged all four buildings and the millions of crickets that were inside.

Investigators are on the scene right now.

It's not known at this time what might have sparked the flames.

It has been in business since 1969 and ships crickets and other insects to 49 states across the country.
