Suspect arrested in shooting that killed man near Firebaugh

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno County sheriff's deputies have arrested a man for a deadly shooting near Firebaugh. Juan Ortiz, 37, has been booked into the Fresno County Jail on one count of murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Deputies found Jose DeJesus Fuentes-Martinez, 52, dead on Saturday next to a canal near Nees and Jerrold avenues. Two people called police saying they witnessed a murder.

The motive for the crime has not been revealed.
