FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A YouTube video is causing a buzz in Fresno. The video depicts a new look for Fresno's Manchester Mall.

The video, put on YouTube by the owners of Manchester Center show a dramatic renovation of the nearly 60-year-old mall. Despite the enthusiastic online promotion the owners, Omninet Capital of Beverly Hills do not want to talk about their plans for the mall just yet. However, Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin has been briefed and is excited about the proposed improvements.

Fresno Mayor Ashley said, "I've heard little bits and pieces about what's planned there and everything I'm hearing sound fantastic and exactly what we want to see in this part of our city."

The video appears to be designed to attract new tenants, and boasts about the central location and the amount of traffic going by. City council member Clint Olivier has met with the owners and believes something is about to happen.

Olivier explained, "It looks like the wheels are beginning to turn and we are going to see some changes over there."

The city is taking steps to accommodate improvements. The city council is being asked to approve removing the turn lane, squaring off the intersection at Blackstone and Shields. The Omninet video shows a restaurant or store located on the space. Mayor Swearengin says the city has other planned improvements as well.

Mayor Swearengin said, "The city is certainly supportive of the project, we are doing some cleanup work on the streets in the area our bus rapid transit is definitely going to support ridership in that area, we are putting in new bus shelters and making the area outside the mall look really terrific."

ABC30 spoke to the mall manager and he told us the company is not ready to discuss its plans right now.

So why does their promotional video looks promising, there's no confirmation anything will actually happen, but as you heard, city officials are optimistic.
