Holiday season right around the corner and retailers preparing to open seasonal job

DINUBA, Calif. (KFSN) -- Tis the season for stores to staff up for the busy holiday shopping season. Retail giants like Best Buy are in the process of filling hundreds of jobs over the next couple of months.

"We're hoping to bring on 600 to 800 employees, and about a third of that will go to our dot-com department," said Rhett Briggs, Best Buy Operations Manager.

Retail holiday hiring numbers are expected to rival years past with a bigger emphasis on areas tied to online transactions. At the Best Buy Distribution Center in Dinuba, a large section of the 1-million square foot facility is dedicated to e-commerce purchases.

"You get a lot of the unsung heroes here with Best Buy in the warehouses. These are the folks that are getting the products to the customers either in the mail or to the store. You know that hero mentality and that's something these guys take personally," said Briggs.

The push for faster shipping has companies like Best Buy seeing a shift toward their online department. Especially during the peak shopping season.

"We see a lot of growth. We'll ship upwards of 1,000 units a day. We hope to ship upwards of 100,000 units a day. It's a lot of customers to take care of in a short time frame," said Briggs.

From operating the conveyor belt or stocking items no experience is necessary at Best Buy. The company will train all new employees

"We do evaluate talent after peak season. If we got folks that really show that they want to be here long term we try to retain as much talent as possible because we do see future growth with Best Buy," said Briggs.

Revenue from online sales continue to rise and this year experts are predicting dot-com sales to reach $95-billion.
