If you've ever picked up a bag of produce, you may have picked up a bag made in the Valley.

VISALIA, Calif. (KFSN) -- Sorma USA manufactures mesh bags for produce -- helping fruit and veggies travel the world.

Sorma USA is part of the process that supplies fresh fruit and vegetables to consumers all over the United States. They are involved with food products from potatoes and onions to blueberries. They say the diverse customer base is exciting and challenging, giving them a unique perspective on the food supply chain in North America.

Originally founded in Italy, the North American subsidiary has been operating for 20 years. In 2012 the Visalia production facility was opened. They supply not only the packaging materials, but the machinery that weighs and packs the products.

The company has been the in Valley for 20 years in a variety of forms. They employ 17 people including four dedicated to the actual production. The rest are service and support of their machinery division.

The process starts when raw plastic films, both PE and PET, are printed from wide rolls, then laminated, trimmed, and either packaged as is, or have an additional step to produce a specialty package material for their customers.

Sorma USA's customers are located throughout the United States as well as Canada and Mexico.
