New Fresno shop offers tailored suits for professionals
R. Douglas features a showroom where customers can build their own suits from the fabric to the fit and then add in style.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Women aren't the only ones who like to dress up, a new Fresno business aims to help men look more dapper in custom clothing.

At R. Douglas in northwest Fresno, dressing well isn't just their passion it's their business.

"As tailored menswear becomes more interesting, men wanting to get back into dressing up and feeling better and looking better and elevated business game," Ryan Hammonds with the shop said.

Hammonds is the owner of R. Douglas, a brand new custom clothing store in northwest Fresno. He said these days more men are interested in dressing up. Hammonds started his first store in Sacramento, and he decided to start a second store in Fresno, where his wife is from.

"We visit Fresno frequently so my connections in the state capitol in Sacramento have allowed me to outfit many of the political leaders in Fresno," he said. "So that has created opportunities in the city of Fresno."

The new store features a showroom where customers can build their own suits from the fabric to the fit and then add in style.

"We're seeing contrasted linings that are very popular," Hammonds said. "It's business on the outside party on the inside, you do something fun on the inside. It's little details like button hole contrasts and buttons."

Hammond's said his customers range from business professionals to grooms.

"Our suits start at $899, and I would say our average suit is somewhere in the $1,000 to $1,200 price point. It's the fabric that determines the cost. All of the style and all of the fun is included in the experience."

It's a cost he says is worth the investment.

"The suit, if it cuts right, makes them look and feel better about themselves," he said.
