Swiggs Restaurant and Bar to close

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- After five years in business, Swiggs Restaurant and Bar in Northeast Fresno is open for the last night.

The owners say it's a bittersweet moment, but made the decision because of new competition and the rising cost of doing business. They say the bar has been busier than ever before since they announced they would close. They've sold a record number of flamingo wings and say many customers have come in to say goodbye.

"We've seen a lot of people that we've gotten to know and really care about come out and support us and let us know that we were a big part of everything from their college life to their family life to just life itself," said Michael Jew, Swiggs owner.

The couple says they plan to open a Swiggs food truck, and have started a Go-Fund-Me account to help them get set up.
