Tesla unveils electrifying new semi in Los Angeles
Just before 8:30 -- the Palo Alto based electric car maker unveiled its new all-electric big rig at an event in Hawthorne, outside Los Angeles.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- On Thursday, Tesla Inc., unveiled electric big-rig truck which can be able to drive itself. This throws the company into a new market. A teaser image was released that revealed the truck to be heavily backlit, and a tall silhouette with futuristic angular headlights.

Tesla CEO, Elon Musk has nicknamed the powerful truck "The Beast". It was set to release in September, but release date was delayed.

Elon Musk says the trucks are equipped with independent motors on each side.

It was designed to transport up to 80,000 pounds-the maximum permitted on U.S. highways. It is capable of traveling 500 miles on a single charge with a loaded trailer.
