Work continues at new business plaza in Old Town Clovis

CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) -- Work is coming along at Centennial Plaza in the heart of Old Town Clovis. Two separate three-story buildings will be built next to the plaza.

"We see this as a catalyst for expanding the old feel south of Fifth Street," Clovis Community and Economic Developer Andy Haussler said. "Getting into the area south of where Old Town had success and growth."

Haussler works with the city of Clovis and said the southern building will house an engineering and architectural firm. Several restaurants are looking to fill the bottom space and the other building has tenants for the future.

"Realty Concepts is filling the top two floors," he said. "Very excited. And then House of Juju, a very popular Old Town restaurant, is going on the bottom floor."

The plaza isn't the only new venture in Clovis. Near Third Avenue and Clovis Avenue, Old Town Yoga is getting for its grand opening on Saturday.

"I've always loved this Old Town community," owner Desiree Heckman said. "Everybody loves going to farmers markets and the events, so it just seemed like that perfect business that was missing."

Heckman said the new studio will offer classes ranging from beginners to more experienced, and she said they've already received a great response from those who work or live nearby.

"Just to be a part of this community at this level, the business level, is incredible," Heckman said. "It's such an amazing opportunity so far and I can't wait to see how it grows."

At the Centennial Plaza, city officials say the area will host events in the future and outdoor concerts. It will also provide a front row seat to the hustle and bustle in Clovis.

Officials believe more businesses gathering spaces will attract Valley residents. Centennial Plaza is expected to be completed by early summer 2017 in Clovis.
