FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A local insurance agent has been booked into jail on embezzlement charges after a three-year investigation.

Police say Araceli Salinas, 41, stole tens of thousands of dollars from customers and the Farmers Insurance office where she worked in Coalinga. The case was first opened back in 2012. Then in March of this year, the Fresno County District Attorney's Office filed charges, and a warrant was issued for Salinas' arrest.

Detectives tracked her down at her new home in Orange County, and she turned herself in to the Irvine Police Department on Thursday.
