China Peak temporarily closed due to lack of snow
China Peak Mountain Resort will be temporarily closed, beginning Wednesday, January 3, until weather patterns change or they receive enough snow to open.

China Peak Mountain Resort will be temporarily closed, beginning Wednesday, January 3, until weather patterns change or they receive enough snow to open.

Due to the lack of rainfall in Sierra Nevada mountains, China Peak has not had much luck so far this winter with snow.

In an email to Action News, China Peak Manager Tim Cohee said, "Often times these dry starts are met with a steady period of heavy snow through spring."

Cohee says even if they do not get going until later in January we could still see a season with up to 100 days of skiing.

China Peak has closed in early May several times in its 60-year history.
