FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Over the next three days, thousands of Fresno Unified fifth graders will fill the seats of the Roosevelt High school auditorium for a history lesson.

"You get 25 years of U.S. history in 45 minutes and the kids are enthralled and they are understanding the reason why and the people involved," said Visual and Performing Arts Manager Catherine Aujero.

Students are learning through an original theatre production. It is called 'The Founding Fathers and Mothers.'

"There is some emotion in this show, where our forefathers were coming from and the struggle that they went through in writing our Declaration of Independence and the fear they had by doing that," said Aujero.

The show covers a wide range of historical events from the Stamp Act to the Boston Tea Party.

The production is put on by theatre group the good company players and they say they are giving students more than just a show.

"Many of these young students will be seeing something live in performance for the very first time. I don't think you ever go back," said Managing Director Dan Pessano.

Fresno Unified is hoping to make this an annual event so our countries history can be passed on to future students.
