WHITTIER, Calif. -- A car swung too wide and struck two people and three parked cars while drifting in Turnbull Canyon near Whittier on Sunday.

One spectator who was struck walked away, while the second man was knocked off his feet and tossed into the air, but only suffered a fractured pinky toe.

"I feel lucky," said the man, who did not want to be identified.

A witness told Eyewitness News that he and other people at the scene are part of a drifting team. Drifting is a driving technique where the driver intentionally oversteers, which causes the tires to lose traction during a turn.

Everyone in the video was part of the drifting team and no hit-and-run occurred, the witness said.

The owner of one of the damaged cars says he wants the driver to pay for the damage. The drift club says it's working with those owners to remedy the situation.

The two people hit were taken to a hospital, treated and released.

California Highway Patrol was looking into the video.
