The United State Geological Survey says a strong earthquake, with a magnitude of 6.5, has struck about 147 miles north of Gaborone.

People reported feeling the earthquake as far away as Johannesburg, South Africa -- about 210 miles away by car.

There are no immediate reports of damage.

Botswana is a country in southern Africa bordered by South Africa to the south, Zimbabwe to the east and Namibia to the West.
