FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Classmates are rallying around a Fresno third grader with Leukemia.

They held a blood and bone marrow drive today at Malloch Elementary School in Northwest Fresno. Anyone who donated during the 'Team Mia' event received a t-shirt with that phrase.

Mia is currently receiving long-term treatment at Valley Children's Hospital.

In addition to the blood drive, classmates sold 'Team Mia' wristbands for two dollars.

"They just feel really good about helping sell them," said Erin Dye, the mother of Mia's friend. "They sell them at all the events at school, and to their friends, and to see their fellow classmates walking around with the bracelets, makes them at least feel like they're doing something to help Mia."

All proceeds from wristband sales go to Valley Children's, to help other families of children receiving care.
