FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Northwest Fresno middle school is taking audience members back to the days of big hair and disc- jockeyed dances.

Bullard TALENT Middle School students are performing "Hairspray Jr." this week. It's the story of a girl named Tracy Turnblad, whose big dream is to perform on the "Corny Collins Show."

You can still catch the show through this Friday.

Bullard TALENT Middle School proudly presents Hairspray Jr. in six community performances. This show is directed by Jane Wagner and represents the collaborative efforts of students, staff, and parents.

Hairspray, set in 1962, features spunky plus-size Tracy Turnblad and her big dream to dance on the popular Corny Collins Show. When she finally gets her shot, she's transformed from social outcast to sudden star. In balancing her new-found power with her desire for justice, Tracy fights to dethrone a TV network in the process. With the help of her mom, Edna, and guest DJ Motormouth Maybelle, the rhythm of Tracy's new beat just might prove unstoppable.

Tickets available by calling (559) 248-7030.
