Central Unified children receive new coats
Hundreds of students in Central Unified now have a warm coat to wear when they head off to school in chilly temperatures.

FRESNO, Calif. -- Hundreds of students in Central Unified now have a warm coat to wear when they head off to school in chilly temperatures.

Tuesday morning the Coats for Central Unified School Children kicked off with the program's first distribution at Tilley Elementary School in West Central Fresno.

Forty students received a new coat or sweater there -- but over 700 students in need throughout the district received new coats today.

"They have to be comfortable they have to live in a comfortable warm and peaceful climate if they are to be successful in the future," said Darius Assemi, Granville Homes.

The coats were purchased thanks to money raised through the Foundation for Central Schools.
