Churches hold final Super Sunday of the year

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The final CSU Super Sunday of 2016 took place Sunday.

The three-week event happens every year during Black History Month to help improve the preparation and graduation rate of African-American students. Leaders from the 23 CSU campuses visit churches across the state including one in Central Fresno.

Their goal is to provide valuable resources and encourage young parishioners to pursue a higher education. "It has become the necessary ticket to good jobs, lower unemployment and a better life it has become necessary, essential that you support your students in this congregation," Provost Dr. Lynette Zelezny.

To date, nearly 600,000 churchgoers have received information about financial aid and the CSU system.
