Fresno Bridge Academy gets $12.2 million USDA grant
Millions of dollars are coming to Fresno County to help those who are on food stamps become independent from government help.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Millions of dollars are coming to Fresno County to help those who are on food stamps become independent from government help.

Reading and Beyond which runs the Bridge Academy has received a $12.2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to expand their program.

The program provides classes like ESL, computer literacy, and child care for Fresno County residents who are on food stamps but want to be financially independent.

The program has helped more than 1,000 families since 2010. The new grant hopes to help 1,500 more, plus open up six new site locations for the program.

Reading and Beyond will open up new locations in Central Fresno, West Fresno, Pinedale, Kerman And Reedley.
