Kids in the North Valley are aiming to learn a new skill over the Easter break. Nearly 20 children are enrolled in an archery course that's being held at Merced College.

Instructor Dennis Taylor normally puts on summer sessions, but this is the first time he's done it in the spring. The class is for kids ages 8 to 18. They learn everything from proper terminology to shooting techniques. Taylor says it's a great way to keep kids entertained while they're away from school.

"Watching them pull a bow back and shoot barely hitting the target on the first time, and then as they get going they hit bull's-eyes; it's just very rewarding watching the big smiles on their faces," said Taylor.

This course started on Monday and wraps up on Thursday. The next sessions start in June, and you can sign up through the Merced College Community Services website.
