For some reason, two middle school teachers in north Texas thought it would be OK to give out "ghetto" awards to some of their students.

It's not the first year the teachers have done it, but it will certainly be the last. Upset parents are giving those teachers the benefit of the doubt that it was a classroom joke, but that doesn't mean they or the school district find it OK.

"Did she just say ghetto on a certificate that she was giving my grandson?" asked Debra Jose.

"As bad as it may seem, you'd hope there's some logic explanation," said Sulpher Springs superintendent Michael Lamb.

The teachers' actions are being investigated, especially because they forged the principal's signature. So far, they haven't apologized or explained the awards.
