TULARE, Calif. (KFSN) -- Hundreds of students gathered at the International Agri-Center to learn about the importance of agriculture in their own backyard at the annual AgVentures.

Fourth graders from Visalia and Tulare were taught about different crops and animals that can be found in the Central Valley. This year Reedley College's Forestry Department also came to demonstrate how trees are harvested.

"A lot of times when you think about agriculture you don't really think about forest," says the Ag Education Manager Kerissa Chapman.

Students were also given California grown produce and dairy products and taught about nutrition.

This is the third year for the annual AgVentures and organizers expect to only continue and grow it in the future.
