FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A lot of local dads were feeling the blues on this Father's Day -- in a good way.

A crowd of about 500 people enjoyed the 6th annual Tower District Father's Day Blues Festival on Sunday. It featured four different bands, including "Big Earl & the Cryin' Shame" from Modesto.

Organizers say events like this help keep the blues alive since the music doesn't get as much radio play as some other genres. "It's up to the grassroots effort of the blues societies all over the country to support this kind of music and keep it active," said Don Heflin with the Central Valley Blues Society.

The Central Valley Blues Society and the Tower District Marketing Committee put on Sunday's festival.
