FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Hundreds of people came together in Southwest Fresno on Saturday for a "Stop the Violence" event.

The gathering took place near Fairview and Church avenues and focused on unity and ministry. Several church groups put the whole thing together and invited other local agencies to get involved, including the Fresno Police Department. Vendors also set up booths to promote anti-bullying resources.

"Everybody that's out here, they're out here because they believe in the city, they believe in peace. And the best violence prevention resource that we have is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ," said Marcus Lester, with Mouth 2 Mouth Ministries.

Families who attended enjoyed free barbecue, games for the kids, and a large donation of groceries to take home.
