Fight in Visalia hotel lobby leaves suspect and officer injured

VISALIA, Calif. (KFSN) -- A 28-year-old man arrested early Tuesday morning for assaulting a Visalia Police Officer.

Police said Omar Almaguer entered the Best Western Hotel near the city's airport and began acting strangely. He left and then came back and refused to leave.

When an officer arrived, police said Almaguer began to attack the officer at one point trying to remove the officer's gun from his holster. The fight continued for several minutes before back-up arrived and took him into custody.

Police said one officer hurt his hand but is okay.
