Fresno, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno Police Department detective took the stand in court to testify against former Fresno Unified School bus driver Jeffrey Sipes--charged with child molestation and possessing child pornography.
"She told me that Mr. Sipes had sexually abused her as a child and physically," said
According to the detective who interviewed Sipes while serving a search warrant--Sipes said he thought his email addresses were hacked, but later in the interview admitted to watching child pornography. He blamed it on curiosity about female body development and said it led to an addiction-it was like a drug.
Those child pornography charges brought years of child molestation accusations to light from one victim, his former stepdaughter--who says Sipes molested her from the ages of 2 to 16 at least ten different times and says he would sneak into her bedroom at night.
"If she moved or made him believe she was waking up that he would beat her again," said
She says was too scared to react because Sipes beat her and her mother frequently.
"What items did she say Mr. Sipes would beat her with? Clothes, hangers, belt buckles, belts fists, and shoes.
One charge of a forcible lewd act in 1985 was dropped because of the statute of limitations, but according to the prosecutor the rest of them will hold up.
"There are other similar charges that are more recent well deal with those after today's hearing," said Eric Schweitzer, attorney.
The Fresno Unified School District says 54-year-old Sipes is no longer employed with them. The judge is expected to decide tomorrow if there will be enough evidence to go to trial.
