A former Orosi High School teacher will spend 180 days in county jail and then be on probation for three years.

That was the sentence Jason Whited received today in a Tulare County courtroom.

After pleading to one felony count of showing a minor an obscene photo in July of 2016.

His victim, a former Orosi High School student, was in court.

She called Whited's actions disgusting and says she is now depressed and sometimes suicidal as a result of what happened to her.

Tulare County Assistant District Attorney, David Alavezos said, "He was an adult, she was not. He was a teacher, she was a student. Obviously not only is this a crime but it's the kind of behavior we have to be very concerned about."

Whited will begin serving his jail sentence in late December.

He will also have to register as a sex offender and was ordered to stay away from his victim.
