Fresno Chaffee Zoo evacuated due to large gas leak
The gas leak has been fixed and visitors are being allowed back in the zoo Wednesday afternoon.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The gas leak has been fixed and visitors are being allowed back in the zoo Wednesday afternoon.

PG&E said a construction crew digging with a backhoe at the City of Fresno corporation yard, across the street from the Fresno Chaffee Zoo, hit a gas line late Wednesday morning. The damaged gas line was located at Golden State Boulevard and Belmont Avenue.

The Chaffee Zoo said they evacuated all guests as a precaution -- but they have were allowed to return about two hours later.
