FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The men who died in crash involving an Amtrak train and a van in Fresno County have been identified by the California Highway Patrol.

Nicholas Spurling, 29, and 47-year-old Michael Reyna. Both men were from Fresno. Spurling was driving the van which the CHP says belonged to Bethesda Lutheran Communities in Fresno. An organization that provides services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities Investigators say the railroad crossing arms were down, but the van ran through them and onto the tracks.

A statement released by Bethesda Lutheran Communities says in part: "Our prayers and deepest condolences go out to both families and to those that knew Michael and Nicholas. Bethesda has deployed staff ministry consultants to be available to support anyone at the Fresno program or throughout the organization who requires comfort."
